Smoothing destination-specific migration flows

چکیده
Abstract Accurately estimating age profiles for destination-specific migration is requisite to understanding the determinants of population growth and projecting future change as primary determinant most regions. In Australia, place-to-place flows based on profile derived from census data are commonly used empirically estimate internal migration. However, such heterogeneous imperfect accurately generating migration-age profiles. Demographers have addressed this by developing a range methods smoothing probabilities. These address bi-regional basis, primarily with one destination–origin pairing. We propose non-parametric method probabilities which can be applied multi-regional within generation–distribution framework Rogers et al. (Environ Plan A 34:341–359, 2002). demonstrate that, if total age-specific out-migration has already been estimated, ratios provides solution input data. Using example Australian interstate migration, we show how give an accurate fit ratio across high-curvature ages good treatment sample noise both when at risk low, advanced ages, destination low conditional probability An implementation available Excel add-in.

Augmenting flows for the consistent migration of multi-commodity single-destination flows in SDNs
Updating network flows in a real-world setting is a nascent research area, especially with the recent rise of Software Defined Networks. While augmenting s-t flows of a single commodity is a well-understood concept, we study updating flows in a multi-commodity setting: Given a directed network with flows of different commodities, how can the capacity of some commodities be increased, without re...
متن کاملAnalysis of Migration Flows to 22 Areas of Tehran
The political situation in Tehran has caused the city to become a commercial, industrial, administrative, educational and military center of Iran for decades. Such a situation has created waves of immigration and displacement of population from all over the country to the city. In order to understand the situation of the immigrant population of Tehran, this paper uses census data from 2006 and ...

Demographic estimation in countries with well-developed data reporting systems is based on data collected by censuses and vital registration systems. In countries with inadequate or inaccurate data reporting systems, demographic estimation often must rely on methods that are “indirect”. Such methods have been applied with considerable success in studies of mortality and fertility, but they have...
متن کاملA Model to Estimate Origin-Transfer-Destination Route Flows and Origin-Destination Segment Flows across the Continental United States
This paper introduces an Origin-Transfer-Destination (O-T-D) model that predicts the route and segment passenger flows between airport pairs using origin-destination (O-D) passenger demand between airport pairs. The model is developed based on a multinomial logit model and covers 443 nodes (i.e., airports) and about 6000 links (flight segments). To create airline schedules between any airport p...
